In the training for foster carers there is a focus on the child’s trauma-timeline, their experiences and their subsequent individual realities, beliefs and inner world. We consider the behaviour as the children’s and young persons’ ‘language’ and look at the underlying emotions, including those unmet needs that are not openly communicated by them. We think about the care these children and young people need and how this can be provided in a foster home. The aim is to empower foster carers and to help foster carers understand the children better in order to support them as best as possible.
