Finding and Building Adoptive Families for Children in Wales Good Practice Guide: Implications for Practice

This FREE webinar explores all five chapters of the NAS guide and what needs to happen at each stage — from pre-proceedings through to matching panel and Agency Decision.

Drawing on current best practice, up-to-date research and recent developments, the session will highlight why early information sharing and ongoing collaboration with adoption teams are essential to achieving good outcomes for children.

The webinar will focus on keys areas, including

  • Realistic and achievable keeping-in-touch arrangements, informed by the Contact Planning Tool and focused on the child’s best interests
  • New research and best practice on Pre-Meets at the matching planning stage
  • Recent research and thematic learning on adoption disruptions and family breakdowns
  • Learning and planning process in complex situations, including:
    • when a child’s care plan is at risk of changing from adoption
    • when brothers and sisters are at risk of separation despite being assessed as needing to stay together
    • reviewing plans for children following an adoption disruption

There will be opportunity for discussion and questions.
