Permanency Planning for Foster carers (postponed)

Trainer – Tracy Bowen

What does permanency mean? This training will raise awareness with foster carers of all the different options across the permanency spectrum including SGO, connected persons, mainstream fostering and adoption.

We will explore the impact of trauma on the child and how this can evolve throughout the duration of the placement as children settle. We will look at the impact on family life and how parenting styles may need to adapt and change over time to best meet the needs of the child.

The workshop will have a participative peer learning focus with an opportunity for foster carers to discuss and reflect on the issues and their experiences. There will be a focus on learning from children’s voices and experiences with an emphasis on what the message of permanency means to the child.
