Professional Curiosity: Assessing and Supporting Caregivers’ Mental Health and well-being

Trainer Consultant – Natalia Osborne-Pearce

Our understanding of mental health has evolved significantly in recent years. However, despite these advancements, many individuals still face stigma. This thought-provoking workshop explores the complex task of assessing and supporting the mental health and well-being of foster carers and prospective caregivers, while also ensuring that the right individuals are equipped to care for children who may have experienced complex trauma.

Additionally, the course will review recent safeguarding practice reviews, highlighting the potential worst-case scenarios that can arise if mental health is not thoroughly assessed.

Participants will have the opportunity to reflect on their roles and professional responsibilities, as they navigate the challenging balance of being both inclusive and supportive while prioritising children’s needs and safeguarding.
