This workshop will provide an overview of the role and responsibilities of the supervising social worker, the specific tasks which this role entails and good practice considerations to improve attendee’s ability to support fostering households to be the best that they can be.
The workshop will look at the requirements, processes and functions for foster carer supervision, review and matching considerations, child focused practice and attendance at meetings and reviews.
Attendees will reflect upon the issues and dilemmas inherent in the supervision and review of foster carers and develop ideas to resolve these dilemmas with a view to developing best practice. Together we will learn how to understand and meet the supervision, support and development needs of foster carers. Learning has been developed from recommendations from Serious Case Reviews.
